Hey There!

I'm Alexis - the goofy chic behind Curio Press. We just built a house in St Louis, MO and I am juggling being a mom, wife, small biz owner, and trying my best to get this house to look like a home. If that wasn't enough I battle chronic autoimmune issues everyday. I'm so glad to have you along for this crazy journey!

I wish Christmas came later in the winter so that we could leave all our decor up longer without it seeming weird. My plan this year for the porch is to go with greenery that can stay up well into January (assuming the garland still looks ok) so we can enjoy it longer. Here in Saint Louis it usually doesn’t snow till well after the holidays, and I would love to have it up for a snowy day!

This year marks the 10th Christmas running my business and since the holidays are our busiest (and I mean crazy busy) few weeks, I haven’t been present enough for our family to create traditions as Emma has grown up. I am hoping to work on my balance in the coming years (just trying to make it through this one!) and would love to know what your fave family tradition is for the couple weeks leading up to Christmas or New Years.

Emma’s room is the one place I get to have fun with colors that normally would not jive with the rest of the house. This year, I wanted her room to feel fun but cozy, so we did two pencil trees with a candy theme and she is so happy with it!! The color palette was pretty similar to her existing colors so the only real change was the holiday additions. Still no update on the basement being put back to normal, but once it is, she wants to move back into her old room (her old, large bedroom is currently the playroom / office). So I am excited for that!

Swipe to see this year vs last year’s mantle! Last year, I did a little more modern with the asymmetrical garland and this year, I wanted to be more traditional. Hence the hanging cedar, bows and orange slices on our mantle.

In order to save a little cost outfitting our new 9’ Slim Queen Flock® tree from @kingofchristmas this year, I decided to skip the traditional skirt and use the chunky knit blanket I had in storage. Just wrapped it around the base and good to go! I am loving the cozy sweater feel it gives with the candles turned on in the evening and will look even cuter with gifts soon!
