It’s super warm here today and definitely feels like summer is coming soon! We are even thinking we will open the pool in the next few days! This time of year I always get the itch to do a major clean-out and organization session in each room of the house. I feel like we tend to let things get more chaotic in the winter - why is that? So I thought I would share a few of my fave tips for spring organizing:

Use matching containers

When all your bins and baskets match, your space will look clean and organized. Plus, it's easier to find what you need when everything is in the same type of container ans long as they are labeled.. Which leads into…

Use labels!

I am a typography fanatic so I get the most amazing feeling from pretty labels. But they also make sure everyone in your house know where things go, so theoretically they will know where to put them away (assuming you can get your family to help with that!)

Sort your stuff

Start by sorting your things into three groups: keep, donate, or throw away. This will help you see what you have and make it easier to decide where to put everything when you put it back. Remember, less clutter means less to organize!

Group things by purpose

This will help you find what you need faster and make it easier to put things away. For example, each drawer in our laundry room is designated for a specific function. One drawer is for lighting, one for electrical, one for hand tools, etc.

Make a place for everything

To keep your home organized, make sure everything has a place where it belongs. This way, you'll know where to find things when you need them, and it will be easier to put them away when you're done using them.

Break the job up into small steps

Organizing a whole room can be overwhelming, so just take it one tiny task at a time. . For example, start by organizing one drawer or shelf, and then move on to the next. This way you can also walk away from the job as needed and come back to it without leaving a mess behind.

Make a maintenance routine

Once you have your home organized, it's important to keep it that way. Make a routine for putting things away and tidying up each day. This will help you stay organized and make it easier to keep your home neat and clean.

Happy organizing!
